Aquarium Exhibits

An instructor directs youth students to a dock. They are all wearing bright yellow rain jackets.

Holding over 6,000 gallons of water in a variety of aquarium exhibits, SEA Discovery Center highlights life from the waters of Liberty Bay, local lakes, and the greater Puget Sound. Amazing invertebrates and fascinating fish from a variety of nearshore ecosystems wait for curious minds to explore!

Conservation
Engagement

SEA collaborates with other marine science organizations and programs to engage community members as fundamental stewards of the natural environment. SEA’s role is to be an advocate for protecting marine life before wildlife and habitats needs to be rescued, rehabilitated. Programs include marine mammal stranding training, collaborations with The Suquamish Tribe shellfish program, invasive green crab training and beach naturalist collaborations. Opportunities will be posted on social media and this website. Check back to learn more!

Group Visits

This summer SEA Discovery Center will be offering modified field trips. For $100 your group, up to 30 kids, will have the aquarium to yourself from 9:30 am- 11am on a Thursday morning. You are welcome to bring your own curriculum to teach, but we will offer an animal scavenger hunt, educational videos, and time to explore the touch pools and other tanks.

Please let us know the age range of your kids, how many you plan to bring, and a few options for Thursdays that work best for your group this summer.

Volunteers

Volunteers play an integral part in SEA’s role as an aquarium and community science center. Volunteers give their time, experience, and curiosity and gain many benefits in return including specialized training in marine science, volunteer-only events and connections to other marine enthusiasts.

School Groups

SEA Discovery Center will offer FREE field trips to 600 5th and 6th grade students from Kitsap County and Tribal Schools during the 2024-25 school year. The two-hour (10am-12pm) field trip will focus on near shore Salish Sea animals and habitats and will include a hands-on lab in the Floating Classroom.
